Le Van Thong

Summary

The switchover of the agriculture in Bulgaria to socialist principles signified essential changes in its regional organization. Those 1 200 000 farms, existing under capitalism, were replaced by 168 agrarian-industrial and by 7 industrial- agrarian complexes in 1978 with 280 000 dka of arable land on the average each. At present, a process, of vertical integration between rural economy and jood industry is going on. All investigations on the regional organization of far ming in Bulgaria and especially in ’Belasitsa, agrarian-industrial complex in the town of Petrich prove that these complexes are the most suitable form of regional agricultural organization, which promote local factors such as soils, climate, labour forces and means of production to be rationally used.
