CHANGE OF POPULATION EMPLOYMENT STRUCTURE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF AGGLOMERATION CORES

Hristo Ganev

Summary

Agglomeration development in Bulgaria is caused by: the rapid space growth of cities as is the case with the capital; establishment of industrial complexes in the territories — Plovdiv, Pleven, etc.; setting up of large resort-complexes along the Black Sea coast. Seaside agglomerations being in process of forming are the most complex because of including both recreational and industrial areas. The formula of Polyan is to be used when defining the number and the level of agglomeration development.

The influence of the agglomeration cores on the changes of employment structure In the neighbouring settlements is realized in two ways: 1) by their own polyfunctional growth—in this way the number of commuters is increased and 2) by shifting enterprises to the neighboring settlements the case when the enterprises are connected with the general production process of the agglomeration. The changes in the population agglomeration structure are shown by the example of Plovdiv agglomeration.
