ESSENCE AND CHARACTER OF THE COMPLEX PHYSICAL GEOGRAPHY

A summary by M. Georgiev and P. Petrov

The complex physical geography is a qualitatively new stage in the development of natural sciences. Object of this branch of human knowledge is the landscape sphere (Ephraimov J. K., 1959, 1966; Ryabtshickov A. M., 1963; Milkov F. N., 1970) or landscape cover (Kalesnick S. V., 1970) of the Earth. The landscape sphere represents a complex interconnected sum of the natural components: rocks, relief, air, solar radiation, waters, microorganisms, soils, plants and animals. The mutual connections between these components and that, by them conditioned dynamics in this complex geosphere is accomplished in the contact and interaction between all components or their elements. On the basis of the participation of the components in the different parts of the landscape sphere complete and incomplete physicogeographical complexes are formed. The landscape sphere of the Earth as a whole is studied dy the Theoretical complex physical geography. The separate territorial combinations of the landscape sphere are an oject of the Regional complex physical geography. Basic methodical formulation in the complex physical geography is the searching, discovering, explaining and prognosticating of the mutual connections and interactions between all components of the landscape and of the separate physicogeographycal territorial complexes (landscapes).

The contemporary functioning of the landscape complexes is carried out under the active influence of the antropogenetical factor. The more intense mastering of the natural resources by human society repuires more profound and complex study of the natural regularities. According to Preobragenski v. s, (1966) the optimal variant between the natural conditions and the planned measures must be most rationally solved. Special actuality attains recommendation today when on the agenda on a world scale the great scientific problem is placed in front of all branches of human knowledge — the problem for man and his surroundings.
