Summary

The impact of space research on geographical studies is analysed and the fact is emphasized that the latter have extended their scope to investigations of the moon and other planets, being equipped with qualitatively new methods for tele — sounding and integral treating of some current problems of geomorphology, oceanography, hydrology, climatology, man and his environment etc. The application is shown of contemporary space research approaches and means for collecting and distribution of geomorphologiral, oceanological and other information. A 'basic' classification of space tele — control methods applicable to research in fhe field of geonomy and local measurements are adduced of some geophysical, astrophysical characteristics correlating to physical and geographical parameters. The efficiency of different telecontrol methods is being appraised and the fields of their application are considered.

The basic advantages of space research methods and means for geographical research are considered as well as the application of space research approaches to renewing of contemporary geographical research.
