Summary

The knowledge of the landscape as a geographical branch developes most quickly in the USSR In the present article the doubtless scientific achievements of many soviet landscape scientists are treated, pointed ont in the last scientific editions. They treat scientific problems in various aspects, as well as series of methodical formulations.

The edited volume in honour of the prominent soviet landscape scientist N. A. Solnzev in the leading articles points out the merits of this scientist in the development of the soviet knowledge of landscape. The other articles concern the methodological and methodical problems, applied—practical aspects and regional landscape investigations.

The edited volume in Tbilissi presents the results of landscape investigations in the Martkop scientific station.

The newest landscape volume of Moscow university includes various the- matical problems — theoretical, methodical, regional and applied ones. A survey of three soviet landscape laboratory’s work is carried out at the end of this collection.

The great significance of the soviet knowledge of the landscape for the development of the complex physical geography in Bulgaria is pointed out in conclusion of this article.
